What's new in Windows 11 Pro?
One of the biggest changes you'll immediately notice after upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 11 Professionalis the new and improved Start Menu. In contrast to all previous Windows versions, the Start menu is now located in the middle of the taskbar instead of the bottom-left. The Start button shows pinned and recommended applications and offers full customizability to the users. If you don't like the Start menu located in the centre of the Taskbar, you can simply revert the change and move it back to the left.
There's also a new Action Center, which replaced the Notification Center and Quick Settings from Windows 10. All the crucial settings, including power, Wi-Fi, and volume are now located in a single tab and can be further expanded to include more toggles and sliders.
The Pro Edition of Windows 11 also received some goodies. In contrast to Windows 11 Home, Windows 11 Pro can be used with a local account, without having to log in first to your Microsoft account. Similar to previous Professional editions, Windows 11 Pro also includes Microsoft Remote Desktop functionality and BitLocker device encryption features, allowing users to protect their data from hackers and unauthorized access.
Windows 11 Pro System Requirements
As of 2022, Windows 11 Pro product keys require at least 1 GHz or faster CPU with 2 or more cores and a compatible 64-bit architecture. Windows 11 is no longer compatible with 32-bit systems. If you're using older hardware that still makes use of x86 architecture, you'll have to upgrade in order to install Windows 11.
Windows 11 also requires 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB or more of free storage space. It also requires UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) compatible with the Secure Boot option. The most controversial requirement, however, is that your PC must be compatible with Trusted Platform Module (TPM) version 2.0. This feature is only available on some modern motherboards, and even then it's most often disabled by default. You'll have to enter UEFI and enable TPM support manually before installing Windows 11 (you can find instructions on how to do that here).
Windows 11 Pro vs. Windows 10 Pro
There's an ongoing debate among Windows users about which system is better - Windows 11 or Windows 10. What is certain is that Windows 11 is the only future-proof operating system from Microsoft, with full support for bug fixes, new features, and security updates.
Mainstream support of Windows 10 ended in 2020, which means no new features will show up, and the product has entered Extended Support. Extended Support for Windows 10 is set to end on October 14, 2025, after which the system will no longer receive security updates and might become risky to use when connected to the Internet. You can still use Windows 10 after that date if you've already purchased it, but might be at risk of viruses and other malicious software.
One of the most important advantages of Windows 11 over Windows 10 is that Windows 11 now supports Android apps. Using the Amazon App Store, you can download mobile apps on your PC and use them as you would with your phone. Microsoft also revamped the old Windows Update, which used to annoy Windows 10 users with unskippable updates and constant reminders. Now, updates will be much smaller and less intrusive, and won't require you to restart your PC with every small change.
